Scaredy Cat
"I'm bored!" yelled Bob.
"That's a first coming from you. I never see you get bored, ever. Now that the dust has settled from all the recent holiday celebrations, I hope to resume our daily lives as usual,” said Scaredy Cat. "It's a new day and a brand new year. Activities are lining up at the community centre for us to enjoy" he added.
"Anything for me to do now?" Bob asked.
"I'm gonna answer you with a question. Do you know what is celebrated in the month of January? It's National Hobby Month, the perfect time of the year to pick up a new hobby or get back into an old one that you haven't thought about in a while! The great thing about having a hobby is that it can take your mind off the pressure of work or other daily stresses. Sit down and think about what you really love to do. Consider what sparks passion in your life or what makes you curious" .
"Is that what those jellybeans are for? Your hobby?" Bob asked at the mountain of jellybeans in a bowl in front of Scaredy Cat.
"Yes, I decided to start a new hobby this year. I'm gonna collect jellybeans in all different flavours and colours and I might want to use it in my craft too. I think they're fabulous " Scaredy Cat said excitedly. "Why don't you get a hobby too Bob, and we both can enjoy it together?"
"Well, I like to eat, that can be my hobby" Bob answered with a smile.
"Since you like to eat so much, why don't you start cooking on your own? If you can learn to cook wholesome, nutritious meals for yourself, you'll save money and have a healthier lifestyle. Cooking can also be therapeutic in itself and will allow you some alone time to create beautiful dishes! I'm sure you will love it. I can see how my hooman enjoys herself with her own cooking creations. She even has her own blog about it. For her, recipes are just suggestions. She just loves cooking."
"Hmmm...that's a great idea. Maybe I'll try it. Creating my own dishes sounds delicious" Bob said.

You heard what Scaredy Cat said - January is National Hobby Month and there's plenty of great hobbies to try. Here’s an idea: you can start going to the gym 5 days a week. Maybe you can try gardening, which is a great stress reliever, take up yoga for meditation and relaxation, adopt a pet if you don’t have one or even adopt another. You can volunteer at a multitude of businesses or organizations, read or write a book, travel and so much more.
Share your hobby with others. Make gifts of your hobby. Start a hobby group so you can socialize, too. You can even turn your hobby into a career. You know what they say. If you make your hobby your job, you'll never have to work a day in your life.
