My beloved grandmother would tell me stories at night. My favorite was about a black dog who was so hungry and chased a rabbit into a log. The rabbit wouldn't come out no matter what the dog tried. The dog finally gave up and went home and chewed on a bone. Many years later when I was an adult I asked her to tell it to me again. She couldn't. She'd made it up and after so many years of not telling it she couldn't remember how the story went. I don't remember the details but I remember her and the wonderful stories she told.
