Scaredy Cat
"It is such a beautiful day" Scaredy Cat was thinking to himself while looking outside of his window waiting for Bob to arrive. The birds were chirping, the sun was shiny, and remnants of the fall leaves were everywhere. Once Bob arrived, the first thing that came out of his mouth was "What do you want to do today?" Scaredy Cat proudly announced, "It's Stay Home Because You’re Well Day, and I intend to do just that". "And do nothing at all?" asked Bob. "Don't get me wrong, just because I stay home, doesn't mean that I do nothing. Stay Home Because You’re Well Day gives us an excuse to stay in for the day while you're healthy. We all need a break, and it is nice to take it when we are healthy and can enjoy it. That said, I truly believe my hooman is in need of a day like this." replied Scaredy Cat.

Isn’t it a shame to waste your day off feeling sick? When you finally get some time away from the monotony of the office, isn’t it better to actually enjoy it? Of course it is! And that’s the thinking behind “Stay Home Because You’re Well Day”. The point of this holiday, which is celebrated on November 30th each year, is to take a moment to just slow down and enjoy life, seeing as how it has become so very hectic over the recent years, what with the endless barrage of phone calls, text messages, emails, voicemails, etc...that we are faced with on an everyday basis. And who can argue with that? We all need some “me time” once in a while. It is essential to disconnect from our daily routines. Being home when we are healthy can come with a sense of accomplishment, too. We can tackle tasks we’ve been wanting to complete for a while. It can also be an opportunity for some much-needed relaxation. Everyone sees a healthy day off differently. Use it as you see fit. Stay Home Because You’re Well Day has no agenda other than to spend a healthful day at home. But the opportunities remain endless! What you do with it is up to you.

For this week’s art challenge, we would like to see how you spend your Stay Home Because You’re Well Day. Haven’t had time to actually read a book? Buy the book that all of your friends have been recommending and read! Head to the spa for an overdue mani-pedi or facial. How about getting started on your Christmas cards? Take a friend to lunch to catch up. Get your calendar up to date. Try a new recipe and make some extra to share with someone who wasn’t feeling well today. Take a nap (Bob would love this). Plan your next vacation. Organize all those photos on your phone. Work on an art project like this weekly art challenge. Clean out your closet and donate. Or…just do nothing!! Whatever you decide to do, make sure it helps you feel rested and refreshed, and ready for another day.
