@ PnF Meeting House
Kuzzy and Wilford are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Red
Fall foliage in striking hues of red and orange will be seen all around on this tour along the riverbank. Your pet can collect pine cones, sample wild berries and currants, view beautiful plants in purple and red, and perhaps spot some exotic birdlife! Everypet will enjoy lingering on the bridge to view the peaceful scene as the sun goes down turning the river pink as it does so ...
PnF Meeting House
Before we begin the journey we need to check-in here to pick up a trail map and some travel snacks. Be sure to sign the register with how many are in your travel party and how long you plan to be on the trail. Don't forget to take a potty break before you head out!

Episode 2/25

@ Sleepy River Sunrise
While Kuzzy stood drinking in the amazing view, Hitra searched in her backpack for her camera, eager to capture the scene!

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the sky, casting a warm glow on the sleepy river and the sleepy pets in the village. We begin our journey early in the cool of the day as the PnF weatherpet has predicted an unusually warm autumn day ahead.

@ Sunrise Silhouette
“What an amazing view!” exclaimed Kuzzy after shaking paws with Likey, who agreed with him. Kuzzy was excited to meet up again with Likey. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

As the sun continues to rise and the chill of the morning gives way, some of the hikers begin to shed their warm jackets and stuff them in their packs. A lone plant is dramatically silhouetted in the sun's golden light.

@ Autumn Stillness
Kuzzy and Caroline Piper agreed that the variety of scenery on their Autumn Experience trip was the best ever! They exchanged opinions on which their favourite scene had been so far, and which was the most delicious harvest food they had eaten in their travels!

As we behold the beauty of the golden leaves in the nearby trees, some clouds have rolled in, obscuring the sun for a bit. Some small fish in the river below are dining on insects that skim along the surface, creating little ripples on the calm water.

@ Orange Splendor
Bindy nearly stumbled over Kuzzy, who was lying full length on the grass. “I was wishing I’d brought my watercolours,” said Kuzzy. “This just cries out to be painted!”

The glorious colors of autumn overflow in profusion along the trail prompting a chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahs' among the travelers. We pause and stare in rapturous awe for a moment before proceeding.

@ Ginger Root
Fin and Kuzzy counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared Fin.
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a well-known natural remedy for some common ailments. If you are prone to stomach upset and indigestion, nibbling on a small piece of raw ginger or drinking ginger tea can help alleviate your symptoms. But it is most useful on the journey as it helps your body to recover from muscle soreness after over-exertion. It will definitely come in handy today!

While Kuzzy stood drinking in the amazing view, Chetet searched in his backpack for his camera, eager to capture the scene!

An important reminder when one is out on an adventure: remember to look up! There is so much beauty around us, we don't want to miss any of it, especially when it is something as wonderful as the sun's rays filtering through the orange leaves of this Japanese Maple tree.

Kuzzy was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but Hitra decided to stay where she was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

See, glancing upward occasionally does have its benefits! As we continue along the trail we see a different variety of Japanese Maple, no less beautiful than the orange one. A treat to our eyes, this one is adorned in a fabulous crimson red.

@ Delightful Dahlia
“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Kuzzy.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Milagros.

The PnF gardener has done a fabulous job landscaping along the trail. Pots of flowers have been placed throughout to display an array of vivid autumn colors. This deep pink hued dahlia is delightful!

@ Marvelous Magenta Flower
"How on earth do you identify what this is from the thousands of things it could be?" asked Finn.
"Well," said Kuzzy, "you go through a checklist. Like what sort of leaves does it have, how are they arranged on the stem, do they have stalks, what's its habitat; that kind of thing. I'll lend you a book when we get home."

@ Nectar Delight
“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused FLAPPY.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Kuzzy. "Is he on this tour?"

Be still and maybe it won't see you. Look over there on that red flower. It's a Micronesian Myzomela, and I almost didn't see it as it is somewhat camouflaged by the wispy red flowers it is sipping nectar from.

@ Red Berries
Amph bent down to sniff the flower in front of them but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Amph?” asked Kuzzy.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Amph.

@ Basket of Pine Cones
Kuzzy and Hoppy shook paws before sitting down to enjoy an autumnal harvest snack. “There’s nothing like farm-fresh food, is there, Kuzzy?” said Hoppy.

According to the note attached to the basket, each of us is supposed to take a pine cone and plant the seeds in the designated area ahead. A park ranger will give us instructions when we get there. A pine forest covered in fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful sights to see in winter. I'm happy to help add to that beauty!

@ Magnificent Maple
“What have you got in your tote bag, Caroline Piper?” asked Kuzzy. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything the weather can throw at us, Kuzzy,” responded Caroline Piper. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name them, I’ve got them!”

@ Autumn Rose Bouquet
"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Kuzzy. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."

The unmistakable fragrance of roses captures my attention as I leave the wooded area. I look down to see a beautiful arrangement of autumn-hued roses in a white ceramic pot.

Kuzzy and Choose a name were so rapt gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to shake paws before moving on to the next stage!

@ Shiny Redcurrant Berries
“I’m going to try growing these at home!” announced Kuzzy, after he and Suri had tucked into some yummy organic harvest food!

Wild redcurrants can be found all over the countryside. They look temptingly sweet to eat, but these shiny red berries are usually made into redcurrant jelly because of their tartness.

“What’s this flower called?” Kuzzy said to Pickles. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Pickles and hastily changed the subject.

Teasels and Carnations
Teasel weeds are a very common roadside plant. They look beautiful for being a weed, don't they? They are a favorite among crafters as they can be dried and painted any color. These lovely bi-color pink carnations pair perfectly with the purple painted teasels.
