Sea cow? Cow? I’m no cow! I may be big, but please don’t call me a cow. It isn’t polite. I prefer to think of myself as a graceful aquatic mammal who just happens to weigh up to 1300 pounds. I move quite slowly, but that is so I don’t miss out on anything. I am very curious, and if I was speedy, then I might not see something awesome, like that pretty plant over there! I am mostly a vegetarian and my stomach is built to digest tough plant matter. Oh how yummy ocean and sea plants are! I tend to be a loner, but I’m not really lonely. I just prefer my own company over the company of others. This way, I can dance, and twirl and spin in the sea without anyone watching! Oh, look - something shiny! I think I’ll (slowly) make my way over there to investigate. See you later!Find Food

Dolphins have always been very playful, proudly showing off their abilities to leap high into the air and pirouette their way into the depths, reminiscent of a chorus line in a famous ballet! But dolphins are also very social, and soon realised that their friends the manatees, sea turtles and fish did not share their grace or dexterity.
So the dolphins conceived of an activity that all of their friends could join in with them and enjoy. Distance swimming races…which the stodgy older turtles secretly refer to as “organised drowning”…
