Candy Cane Fairy

Welcome Holly, welcome lights, welcome hearts filled with warmth, welcome to all this season’s delights.

Hi hi! I am a candy cane fairy. I am part of what makes this festive season so magical. No, I don’t help Santa, though I stop by to feed his reindeer from time to time. I love how cuddly they are, and sometimes Santa lets me take one of the reindeer out for a ride in the snow.

My job is to put the sparkle in Christmas, the gleam on the snow, the twinkle in your eye, the glow in the strings of lights, and the zip in the peppermint candy canes. I add a touch of magic wherever I am able to make sure this season shines.

This is a busy time of year for me, but it is not hard work if your heart is made glad. If you see a slight sparkle out of the corner of your eye, that is most likely me going about my day. May the season shine bright for you.

Air-robics

Dragonfly air-robics was born of necessity. You see, couple decades ago or more now, a pair of dragonfly sisters welcomed a dozen young dragonflies each. It was quite the sight. That many children leads to a need, a need to keep them organized and occupied, as every over-worked and sleepless mama knows.

Thus, dragonfly air-robics were created. The babies would cannonball to the end of the swampy marsh, attempting mid-air cartwheels and half-tucks, before arriving at the glowing stalks of cattails, and head back for home, their glistening wings beating as quickly as they could manage, all while performing daring acts of air-robics, such as the double-double 180 super-spin while pirouetting through a crocodiles open smile. Winners got extra attention from mom, and the moms got extra sleep, as days full of air-robics made for exhausted dragonflies!

Now, we aren’t saying feats of daring-do while mid-air are for everyone. We’ve lost more than a few who can’t tell their left from their right, their up from their down, nor even if that’s a cattail blowing in the breeze ahead, or a cat’s tail beckoning them in for a close up with sharp teeth and claws. Yikes!

No, and it must be said, some dragonflies are nervous-nellies who never get off that lily-pad, near-sighted nuts who somersault right into flying fishes maw, and ..ahem.. inelegant slowpokes who simply show up for the snacks.

Still, there’s room for everyone at the dragonfly air-robics. Just keep to your lane, and stay clear of our frenzied friends tumbling and turning, swooping and rolling at breakneck speed towards first place, and you’ll be good to go.
