The Adventures of Scaredy Cat
Jack-o'-Lanterns
It's October and the fall season is officially here. Scaredy Cat is not really looking forward to Halloween, the event that takes place at the end of the month unlike Bob who loves it because he can get so much candy!! "You know what I love in October?" Scaredy Cat asked Bob. "I know it's not Halloween, so what is it?" Bob asks. "I love pumpkins!! Yes, you heard me correctly – I love pumpkins.” Scaredy Cat continues, “Pumpkin Day is held every October 26th and is a day to celebrate one of the most beloved and versatile gourds on earth". “Scaredy Cat sure is talkative today,” thought Bob. "Why do you love it?" Bob asks again. "I love it because of the jack-o’-lantern!! The artistry of the carver is fantastic. Only the other day I was watching the pumpkin carving contest on TV, and it was amazing to see what they can do with it." Scaredy Cat answered passionately. For a moment Bob looks at his friend before he replies, "Hey! I know what we can do!! We can all go to the farmers market and see some great carved pumpkins on display there!" Bob said. So, Scaredy Cat, JJ and Bob head to the farmers market today to find vendors who have carved pumpkins on display. The trio enjoyed their day at farmers market so much, especially at the pumpkins stalls. One vendor had a stall where visitors could try carving their own pumpkins! Scaredy Cat learned so much from the vendor about this form of artistry that he even tried carving one himself and Bob tried it as well. It was fun!!

There’s one thing that represents October more than anything else, and it’s not Halloween (though it’s involved). That thing? The pumpkin. It starts appearing on shelves and farmers market’s stands on the last week or two of September and is the herald that lets you know that Pumpkin Pies, Jack-o’-lanterns, and all the joys of fall are just around the corner. National Pumpkin Day celebrates these noble squash’s, and the history and tradition tied up in their iconic orangeness. This week we want to see a jack-o’-lantern design by PnF members. It can be any design you like, grotesque, creepy, funny, cute, and so much more. You might want to design one that will make Scaredy Cat happy. So, let’s gather the carving tools (be careful not to cut yourself with the knife!), grab your pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin pie, and start designing.

Here's the basics:
* Your submission MUST be related to the theme.
* You must submit your art to the PnF art gallery - only entries there will be counted. https://www.pets-n-friends.com/community.php?id=20
* Put “Jack-o’-Lanterns” in the title or description
* The entry with the most votes will be declared the winner.
* To vote, click the "vote" button - you may vote for as many entries as you want
* Voting will be open immediately
* This challenge will be open from now until October 11, 2022 (around 8:00pm Tuesday night in the USA)
