Five years ago my hubby and I went to Alaska and didn't see the Northern Lights. We thought we would have to go back for a second try but the aurora came to us here in Ohio! We drove just a few miles from home away from lights and trees that would block the view. We sat there and waited about an hour and then got to witness such a spectacular display for about a half hour!
