Rare Earth: Mineral

MapView
Rare-earth elements are a group of 17 chemical elements in the periodic table, in particular the fifteen lanthanides as well as yttrium and scandium. Ytterbium was found in the "ytterbite" (renamed to gadolinite in 1800) discovered by Lieutenant Carl Axel Arrhenius in 1787 at a quarry in the village of Ytterby, Sweden and termed "rare" because it had never yet been seen.
