@ Sled Dog in Training
Rhubarb and * Paco * have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Rhubarb," said Boris Bronson, "for this experience alone?"
Rhubarb, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!
Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
Rick was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Rhubarb unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Rick’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Rick. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”
Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

@ Fox on the Prowl
“I was pretending to be an Arctic explorer in the husky sled on the way here, Rhubarb,” revealed Aletheia.
"Is that why you kept yelling: 'Mush! Mush!' at them?" asked Rhubarb. "Hey, what would happen if you shouted the wrong command and they suddenly did a U-turn?"
"I reckon we'd all be flung out headfirst into the nearest snowdrift," grinned Aletheia.

Fox on the Prowl
Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
“I could stay here forever, Rhubarb,” said Pickles. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Pickles. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Rhubarb.
Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
"How many needles grow on a pine tree, Whisper?" said Rhubarb.
"Goodness, I don't know, Rhubarb. How many?"
"All of them!"

I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

@ Snowy Cabin in the Forest
Pookey and Rhubarb were musing on the concept of hygge.
“Is the reason there's no word for this in English because England is a cold, damp little island with an awful train service?"
Rhubarb considered this. "Well, they could still go indoors out of the rain and curl up in an armchair with a good book and stuff."

The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

"It's turned a bit cold, Rhubarb, I'm going to put my beanie hat on," said * Paco *.
"Good scheme! I'll dig my mittens out as well," said Rhubarb.

@ Snow-Covered Fence
“Pass me the binoculars, Rhubarb!” said Jay's Neck. "I think that's a Canada goose just taking off over there!"

The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

"This is fabulous, Bonny" enthused Rhubarb. "I'll have this photo printed and framed and display it next to my plush seal that I got in the little gift shop near Snow Beach and the model of St Basil's Cathedral from Icon!"
"You'll have a fine collection of mementos, Rhubarb!" said Bonny.

European Crested Tit
A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

@ Misty Evergreen Forest
“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, Rhubarb,” remarked Celeste. "It looks so different!"
"Well, I guess that's the point of travel, isn't it?" said Rhubarb. "To broaden your horizons and so on."

An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo
Rhubarb opened his rucksack to find his hat. Violet could see Rhubarb had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” Violet asked Rhubarb.
Snowy Owl Solo
A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

@ Snowy Stillness
"Hey, Rhubarb, how does a coniferous tree get ready for a date?" asked PetPet.
"Tell me?" said Rhubarb.
"It spruces itself up!" chortled PetPet.

A fresh snowfall has brought a beautiful stillness over the landscape. Leafless trees now have a fresh adornment.

Snowy Owl Duet
Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

“I could stay here forever, Rhubarb,” said Julia. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Julia. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Rhubarb.

A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

“Last night's accommodation was amazing, Rhubarb,” said Fin. "Those sofas! I'm looking forward to seeing where we'll stay tonight!"
"Me too!" replied Rhubarb. "I'm certainly ready for a nice hot drink."

Midnight and Rhubarb were musing on the concept of hygge.

They say when you cut wood that it warms you twice. Some pet has already experienced the first warmth. Now the wood is stacked and ready to be used to warm a second time.

“That sounds like a good plan, Aaron!" said Rhubarb. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

Stuffed Concierge
Welcome to your lodging for the night. Sitting on the steps is the stuffed concierge....AKA Mr. Ted E. Bear. The note tucked under his bum gives you all the information you will need to make your night's stay comfortable, such as where the extra blankets are stored and what the wifi password is.

Rhubarb and Supahfly shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

Rhubarb is tired out and ready to go home when merlin comes along. "Wow! You find a special prize!" says merlin. Rhubarb turns round and found it was just behind them!
Frosty Butterflies
Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.
Cocoa Bar
Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
