This rocky bay provides the perfect place for anypet to rest, play with the numerous pebbles and watch the changing patterns of sunlight on the stone outcrops and distant peaks, or perhaps to dip a cautious paw into the unceasing sea waves running in and back out.

Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Bucky on to keep on trekking. However Elrod sat down, refusing to budge, complaining of blisters on his paws...

Anypet will enjoy exploring the sand dunes with their sharply pointed grey-green leaves and large spikes of creamy-yellow flowers of marram grass in the summer, the backdrop to a sandy beach and the sea.

This beautiful little bay is irresistible to pets who can’t wait to scamper or flap over the golden sand to get to the top of the stony peninsula and gaze far out to the horizon over the sea.

After months of planning, Bucky and Lyra finally agreed on where they would travel together, and they are both secretly please with their choice!

A feat of engineering that certainly stands out in the countryside. It’s a place to stop and dream of where the trains thundering past will be going!

As birds fly home to roost and busy pets retire for the night, the West Pasture in Aegis becomes darker and quiet in the setting sun, waiting for the first stirrings from nocturnal pets who are active during the night.

On Sunday afternoons, many pets take an excursion in the formal gardens, which display the Dutch influence of bright tulips making a fine splash of colour against the immaculate lawn.

Bucky finally makes it back to the landing stage, where Skye is also about to embark and go home. What an adventure it has been! Bucky pockets a map of Aegis as a momento. The guidebook says:

When their vessel carefully manoeuvres past the rocks to reach the landing stage, the pets can jump out and explore this delightful little island. There are beautiful, relaxing sandy beaches, rocky hills to climb, a viaduct and old castle ruin to explore, green pastures to take a picnic hamper, woods and forests to ramble in, rivers to jump over, apples to pick and there are flowers galore!
