@ Scarlet Pathway
Smaug Champion Slayer and Sasha are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!
Scarlet Pathway
As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Smaug Champion Slayer and Grace shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place for a picnic!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Smaug Champion Slayer and Botulistom were entranced at reaching this stopping place and eagerly posed for a picture!

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
“I could stay here forever, Smaug Champion Slayer,” said Roskaizan. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Roskaizan. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Smaug Champion Slayer.

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
“Shall we take a selfie?” Smaug Champion Slayer asked Bubblegum as they drank in the peaceful scene and admired each other’s purchases of harvest produce.

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
“Hey, Ucil!” called out Smaug Champion Slayer. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Ucil was glad to rest and enjoy the food Smaug Champion Slayer shared with him.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“Hey, Nano!” called out Smaug Champion Slayer. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Nano was glad to rest and enjoy the food Smaug Champion Slayer shared with him.

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Smaug Champion Slayer to midnught.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Inspired by the sunny day, Champ said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Smaug Champion Slayer took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Champ hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.
Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

"This is a glorious specimen, Ginny", observed Smaug Champion Slayer. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Smaug Champion Slayer?" said Ginny. "Buy a garden gnome!"

Blue Fire greeted Smaug Champion Slayer cheerily, recommending he expended some silver moles on the fresh harvest food before them.

"Tammie, just take a look all around you and breathe deeply! Get that good fresh air in your lungs! Does it get any better than this?" asked Smaug Champion Slayer, who had just met Tammie at this Autumn Experience stop.

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

“Let’s pose with one of us at each side and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Smaug Champion Slayer to Thinair. “It’ll be a wonderful souvenir of our time here!”

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Ringo.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Smaug Champion Slayer. "Is he on this tour?"

Smaug Champion Slayer was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but Zoot decided to stay where she was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

Lacy bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Lacy?” asked Smaug Champion Slayer.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Lacy.

Pistachio bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Pistachio?” asked Smaug Champion Slayer.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Pistachio.

shyla and Smaug Champion Slayer shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
Roxy and Smaug Champion Slayer shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Smaug Champion Slayer opened his rucksack to change his hat. Foxy Rex could see Smaug Champion Slayer had a baseball cap, a sombrero, a beret, a straw boater, a cricket cap, a sou'wester, a large, floppy sunhat and a pith helmet!
“Did you bring a mortarboard too?” Foxy Rex asked Smaug Champion Slayer.

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Smaug Champion Slayer is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Moon Dancer comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Moon Dancer. Smaug Champion Slayer looks down and sees something valuable. Moon Dancer generously lets Smaug Champion Slayer keep it!
