@ Scarlet Pathway
Frank and Basil are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Frank had to travel on alone, as Jose declared he had found paradise, and had no intention of moving on!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Mocha nearly stumbled over Frank, who was lying full length on the grass. “I was wishing I’d brought my watercolours,” said Frank. “This just cries out to be painted!”

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
“I could stay here forever, Frank,” said T.C.. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, T.C.. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Frank.

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
“I’ve written a postcard to Mrs Eucalyptus about this amazing Autumn Experience!” said Frank. “She’ll wish she were here! Where’s the nearest postbox?”
Ivy Delightful Cheeks shielded her eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t know how it comes about, but they appear not to have thought to provide a postbox here, Frank. How remiss of them!” Seeing Frank’s ears beginning to droop, Ivy Delightful Cheeks added, “Don’t worry, you can post your card after this leg of the Experience!”
Sunlight Road
The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

Episode 6/25

@ Wild Blueberries
Frank was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to Whymsical Mysti, when they met and shook paws.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
Inspired by the sunny day, Snickers said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Frank took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
Snickers hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.
Fresh Chestnuts
As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“Isn’t this amazing, Mulle?” declared Frank. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
Cat Blossom and Frank, after shaking paws, admired the crop of harvest produce in front of them. “I didn’t know it looked like that just after harvest,” said Frank. “I’ve only seen it in the shops!”

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Gentle" said Frank. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Frank! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

“Hey, Sadie!” called out Frank. “Come and have some of this—it’s delicious!”
Sadie was glad to rest and enjoy the food Frank shared with her.

Fin bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Fin?” asked Frank.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Fin.

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

@ Sunset Field
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Frank," said Scaredy Cat, "for this experience alone?" Frank, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Frank.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Wise Owlexander.

“What’s this flower called?” Frank said to Abel. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Abel and hastily changed the subject.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

@ Dusky Twilight
Frank and Iolanthe agreed that the variety of scenery on their Autumn Experience trip was the best ever! They exchanged opinions on which their favourite scene had been so far, and which was the most delicious harvest food they had eaten in their travels!

As daylight fades into darkness the earth is bathed in soft pink and purple diffused hues. An old white picket fence stands guard as it has for years.

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Frank. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Paxton sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

Queenie was glad to rest and enjoy the food Frank shared with her.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
"This is a glorious specimen, Tallulah", observed Frank. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Frank?" said Tallulah. "Buy a garden gnome!"

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

@ Feathery Plumes in Pink
Frank and Suri shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place for a picnic!

Frank is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Suzie comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Suzie. Frank looks down and sees something valuable. Suzie generously lets Frank keep it!
