@ Scarlet Pathway
Hope and star are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!
Scarlet Pathway
As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
“What have you got in your tote bag, Bonny?” asked Hope. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything the weather can throw at us, Hope,” responded Bonny. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name them, I’ve got them!”
Illusion of Nightfall
Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
"Put your camera down for a minute, Hope," said FLEECE, "and just drink in that view!"

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
While Hope stood drinking in the amazing view, LILJE searched in her backpack for her camera, eager to capture the scene!

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
While Hope stood drinking in the amazing view, Brujula searched in her backpack for her camera, eager to capture the scene!

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
Inspired by the sunny day, CUPID said, “Wouldn't it be fun to work on the harvest?”
Hope took a more pragmatic view. “You’d have to be up before dawn every day and work for 12 hours practically non-stop!”
CUPID hastily revised his romantic harvest vision.
Wild Blueberries
Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“I’m going to try growing these at home!” announced Hope, after she and 2020 had tucked into some yummy organic harvest food!

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
Cat Blossom and Hope shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
TenderTeddy greeted Hope cheerily, recommending she expended some silver moles on the fresh harvest food before them.

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

“Isn’t this amazing, Chusi?” declared Hope. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

George and Hope shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
“Let’s pose with one of us at each side and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Hope to Milk. “It’ll be a wonderful souvenir of our time here!”

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

Hope normally avoided tourist hotspots but she was glad she had come, especially since meeting her friend dora here!

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Hope.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Lacy.

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

Draco bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Draco?” asked Hope.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Draco.

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

Hope and Hoots were so rapt gazing at the scenery they almost forgot to shake paws before moving on to the next stage!

Franny bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Franny?” asked Hope.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Franny.

"Benjamin B. Buzzer, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Hope.

The sun has come out and a rare warm autumn breeze has dried up the raindrops on the leaf so now you can see what the rest of the purple-leaved plant looks like.

Lucky and Hope counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared Lucky.

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Smoki said to Hope. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Hope tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening fluffy in the process, then she wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Hope is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Cherry comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Cherry. Hope looks down and sees something valuable. Cherry generously lets Hope keep it!
