In this part of the travel game, the pets delve into Bohemian culture in the area of the city that draws painters, writers, musicians, sculptors and others who express themselves through art. Whether the pets spend time discussing philosophy in one of the many quaint bars or observing the creation of a masterpiece in a tiny, paint splattered studio apartment, or viewing huge graffiti pictures, they will wind up their visit with a trip to some underground cellars before ending the day with the opportunity to purchase some flowers or an elaborately decorated ridotto mask!

In Spanish a barrel is called a “tonel” and the weight of a full barrel is 1 ton. It is the same in English where the origin of the word “ton” is “tun” a wooden wine vessel. A tonelada referred to the space needed for a tonel of liquid in a ship.

From across the road, Milko eyed the attraction they had just left. “I don't know, Sly,” she said. “Would you call that art?”
"Oh yes, I daresay," said Sly airily. “We just don't understand it, I expect.”

These small windows are a delightful mix of ornate metal decoration contrasting with the smooth curves of the earth tone frames, all set off by the duck egg blue of the walls. This soft greenish blue stems from the first discovery of a blue pigment in the 18th century, which was then lightened with white.

Here the surface qualities of the water play a fundamental role in giving the composition of the architecture a final effect—acting in this case not as a perfect mirror but by giving a diffuse touch to the colour and texture of the reflected houses.

Sir Barkey Barksalot scrabbled in his rucksack for his folding camping chair. “What are you doing with that, Sir Barkey Barksalot?” asked Sly. “There's a lot of the tour left to go!”
"I just want to stay here a little while and chill out to the sound of that heavenly mandolin. You go ahead if you want, I'll catch you up!" said Sir Barkey Barksalot.

This beautiful remnant of thick stone wall of earth tones with its arch over weatherbeaten yet ornate wooden doors serve as a proud rejection of the characterless and purely utilitarian. Well-worked graffiti art is typically bold, creative and colourful. It changes the character of the area where it appears. In many cases this is positive, since graffiti art can turn dull monotone buildings and bare walls into interesting and eye-catching exhibitions of the imagination. High-quality graffiti contained within a particular area can raise that neighbourhood's profile as an arts scene. In time, other artists flock there, and the cultural value of the area is increased. This can in the long-term aid the local economy, as tourists head to the area to look at the graffiti, and locally-run tours pop up to show visitors around.

Stained glass is an art form that has been in use since mediaeval times and we tend to associate it with church windows, a riot of bright colours illustrating a narrative. This example has the feel of industrial architecture about it, with its regular rectangular glass panes and muted colours but is nonetheless beautiful.

“I don't know, Lucifer," mused Sly, chewing a toffee. “When I see flaky paint I scrape it down with a putty knife, then get the Polyfilla out to repair any cracks, prime it, let it dry and then repaint it. Perhaps I should leave it a couple of decades and call it art.”

Handmade by Italian artisans, the Venetian masquerade or Joker mask has a long history. Venice is a city of romance and high fashion and the masks have always held a sense of mystery. Venetians were famous for hiding their identity and taking risks both in business and in love. The wearing of masks at balls and masquerades spread and they would be worn in Mozart's Salzburg and at fashionable Georgian London ridottos.
