For this leg of the travel game, the pets embark on a river trip past many beautiful buildings. They will need to wrap up warmly before arriving at the cold, snowy region before the boat continues over open water and past a sturdy old lighthouse before reaching the next landing stage, where the climate is much warmer! They will stretch their legs or wings by crossing the bridge back to their starting point.

If you're looking for a peaceful excursion that woos your soul and wows your sight, then this journey along the waterway is just for you! Our first encounter is with a majestic oriental structure whose colors and spires become tinted in the deep blue waters that pass alongside it. If you listen closely, you'll hear the gentle breeze touching the leaves of the nearby trees.

"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Mac," said Emerald, "for this experience alone?" Mac, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

Just next door on this "It's a Small World" type of water cruise is another structure without the tall spires whose oriental style whispers loudly as it casts its reflection in vivid colors across the water. If you look closely you can see cherry blossoms floating upon the water's glass-like surface which you can scoop up to make a fragrant souvenir.

“Hey, have you seen what the next stop is, Mac?” said Spearmint. "It looks fantastic!"
"I'll get my camera ready," said Mac.

Next up is another Asian-style structure with a very tall spire. Since you left on this journey in the mid-afternoon, the sun is now setting, affording the opportunity to see this building, and the unique bridge that precedes it, all lit up under a purple-red sunset. While not an ocean liner, you do have a soft pillow and mat to lay on, as well as a warm, fleece blanket to cover up with for the evening.

@ Awakened But Not Alarmed
"Wouldn't it be fabulous to live in that watermill, Mac?" said PHOENIX contentedly. "Imagine sitting on your veranda of a summer's evening, sipping a fruit juice and watching the heron and geese and kingfishers and things!"
"Well, save up a few million golden moles and there's no reason why you couldn't buy your own watermill!" said Mac.
Awakened But Not Alarmed
You are awakened early in the morning by a passing boat as you find yourself no longer in spacious waters with elegant buildings along the shore, but up close and personal to many colorful homes and businesses for whom the water is like a street on which they border. Even with having to share the waterway with others, and with structures so close, your soul still is calmed by the sound of the lapping waves against stone and concrete buildings.

@ Off the Beaten Path
Mac opened his rucksack to change his hat. Sugar Candy could see Mac had a large, floppy sunhat, a balaclava, a rain hat, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a swimming cap! “Did you bring a fez too?” Sugar Candy asked Mac.

Navigating under a bridge, you become enveloped by even older structures on both sides, each brick having many stories to tell of passersby on their way to work, to meet with friends, or to run errands. You wonder if the waters bring a peace to their souls while they are busy as the waters have to yours as you relax.

@ Water Wheel Sounds
"You could combine the best of both worlds and live on a houseboat!" said Ivory enthusiastically. "You can sail wherever you want, and when you get tired, just moor the boat and hop in a bunk!"
Mac considered this carefully. "It sounds grand put like that, but you'd be at the mercy of the weather, wouldn't you? What if you wanted to go somewhere but found the river was all iced up?"
Water Wheel Sounds
Tucked away a little further from the bridge is this pleasant little homestead. Some of the river's waters are caught by the small "buckets" that are part of a large water wheel, which generates power for the dwellers in this home. You find its turning to be calming as you quietly pass by.

@ High Up House
"Just think, Mac," mused Inukshuk. "If you lived in one of these houses on the bank you could have your own boat and go boating every single day!"
"Wouldn't you miss having the shops close at hand?" queried Mac.
High Up House
Just around a bend you find a neat little chunk of land in the middle of the river, and a quaint little house on stilts. While at this time the waters seem very peaceful, the fact that the structure is raised up on these poles tells you that there are times when the waters no doubt churn and rise. Knowing that they are safe must give the homeowners a sense of peace just as you have as you travel by.

@ Corner Congestion

You next come upon a community whose leading-edge borders right next to the river's shore, so close that you think you could reach out and touch the various structures! You also notice that there doesn't seem to be any space between the buildings, and it reminds you of how you are creating space in your life - margins - room to breathe so you can better handle each day.

@ Bridge Over Peaceful Waters
Mac is enjoying Fantastic Buildings when Jaylee comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Jaylee. Mac looks down and sees something valuable. Jaylee generously lets Mac keep it!
Glory of Autumn Grass
One of the joys of an autumn drive in the country is seeing the beauty of the rust and golden-hued grasses in the meadows and fields where little pets frolic and play.
Bridge Over Peaceful Waters
Past this busy "corner," you can see more of the community that has grown more inland over time. The bridge you travel under speaks of simpler, quieter days that once were the norm for these townsfolk. You hope that pets will stop long enough on the bridge to look down at their reflections in the water and just breathe a few relaxing breaths.

@ Slowing Down
Mac was excited to meet up again with blade. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

Shortly past the bridge you come upon another section of this little town and find that while there are many boats that could no doubt fill up the breadth of the river, most are docked and the town has a gentle quietness to it as nightfall is coming and folks are settling in for the evening.

Mac and Gordon agreed that the variety of environments on their expedition was the best ever! Mac and Gordon exchanged opinions on which their favourite attraction had been so far!

As you near your lodgings for the night, you are blessed once again with the glow of lights from the homes and street lamps glistening upon the water. The smell of the flowers wafts all around your boat and you notice a crisp chill in the air. It feels like there is snow high in the air.

“You know, I'd like to spend a whole week here, Mac!” said Juniper.
"It's very nice indeed—but you never know, the next leg of the tour might be even better!" said Mac.

Sure enough, as you awaken on your second morning of this river excursion, as you motor away from this community, you see snow high up in the mountains and down low upon the houses. What a neat perspective when you "step back" from your immediate surroundings and can take in the "bigger picture" of where you are (or were, in this case)!

@ Stand Out Structure
“I could stay here forever, Mac,” said Titania. “This is an amazing place!” “Well, you never know what lies ahead, Titania. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Mac.
Stand Out Structure
After a short time you come across a structure much like the first oriental ones you saw on your first day. This stands out to you compared to all of the tight-fitting townhouses in the community you just left. While the same snow fell in both areas upon all of the amazing structures, you appreciate how each building has its own personality, fulfilling its own purpose.

@ Contemplating the Castles
"It's turned a bit cold, Mac, I'm going to put my beanie hat on," said purple.
"Good scheme! I'll dig my scarf out as well," said Mac.

Speaking of personalities, castles seem to have some of the most mysterious and majestic ones that one can encounter. Aged, weathered, strong and steady, these sturdy structures stand out and call out to all who pass by of a simpler time. The waters that sometimes isolate these stone creations from all around them remind you to have healthy boundaries in every area of your life.

@ Quiet and Quaint
“What have you got in your backpack, Maxwell?” asked Mac. “It looks very full!” “I’ve come prepared for anything, Mac,” responded Maxwell. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name it, I’ve got it!”
Quiet and Quaint
Just a little ways beyond the castle is a colorful group of homes and shops, as always, by the water's edge. While nestled close to one another, in the evening sun of your second full day these structures don't shout "busy" or "bustling," but seem to whisper, "blessed" as they cast an almost-perfectly still reflection upon the water.

@ River Rest
“So what do you reckon, Mac, one of these red houses or one of these brown houses?” asked Trixie.
"Oh, you can't beat a solid little grey stone house, Trixie!"

Having passed those homes and shops, you come to your evening's destination, a set of houses on short stilts built into the gentle slope of the river's edge. Here weary travelers such as yourself will find a good dock for your boat and a good dinner for your belly. You settle in for the evening, wondering at what you'll encounter along the way during your third full day.

Mac is admiring some Fantastic Buildings when Delilah comes along. "Look! Another special prize!" says Delilah. Mac looks down and sees it. Delilah generously lets Mac keep it!

One of the joys of an autumn drive in the country is seeing the pastoral beauty of the rows of gloriously hued roadside trees enveloping you in their magnificence and refreshing your soul.
Spanish Castle
With a new day comes new destinations that are tropical in nature - which is the fun of this excursion: it's magical! You first encounter a "castle" of sorts with a Spanish flair to it, with stones that are sandy in color and texture. Surrounding, but not overpowering it, are palm trees that sway with the warm breezes that frequent this area.

Mac was very happy to meet Finley here! They shook paws and both swapped tales of their experiences of their travels so far!

Not far from this point are numerous structures of the same color and texture, homes and shops characterized by red roofs, dulled by the rays of the sun. An imposing building that acted much like a walled fortress stands at the water's edge, a reminder of perhaps some turbulent times. An old pirate ship from such a bygone day sits anchored just offshore as a memory.

Shortly beyond this community lies a cul-de-sac of crystal blue water with an old simple church sitting on a knoll. This structure was built from a variety of different shapes and colors of strong rocks. It is sure to stand the test of time under brilliant blue skies. It causes you to smile as you think of all those who have found a place of peace along their journey here just as you have.

@ White Pearl
“I could stay here forever, Mac,” said Bonnie. “This is an amazing place!” “Well, you never know what lies ahead, Bonnie. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Mac.

As you near the end of this day's journey, you are surprised to encounter a "white pearl" of a place for travelers, It stands out from many of the more antiquated structures that you've seen with its multi-levels and unique rooms with patios overlooking the waters.

@ Lighthouse at Twilight
“Let's hope Foxy doesn't get as seasick as he did that time on Crocodile Creek, Mac!” said Barnaby.
"Can you get seasick on a river?" asked Mac.
"Oh yes, indeedy," said Barnaby. "Plus part of this route is actually on the sea!"

Your final night's rest before returning home is in the base of a lighthouse situated on a small hill. Its height raises a light for all who are journeying and are looking for a welcoming place to stay. The breaking of the water at the hill's edge puts you at ease, and eventually to sleep as your final day of traveling awaits on the morrow.

“You know what Ratty said in Wind in the Willows, Mac?” said Cocoa.
"No, what was that?"
"He said, 'there is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats'," said Cocoa. "He's right!"

The last day of your river excursion is here! After a good night's sleep, you awaken early to get a jump on the day and find a quiet mist hovering over the river. As you head further upriver, you look back not only at the lighthouse where you stayed, but at the twin hill on the left where a quiet little village rests.

"Do you think we'll see penguins at the end like we did on Snow Beach that time, Bella?" asked Mac.
"Oh gosh, Mac, do you remember those sharks, and the octopus as well? Poor Fresco took one look and hid in the bottom of the boat!" responded Bella.

Further upriver is a tributary that passes under a bridge, making another cul-de-sac for would-be explorers on a journey much like yours, not to mention the waterfowl that would find such water and shores to be a sanctuary from their travels too.

@ Home
"Can I change places with you, Mac?" asked Milo. "I want to snap the attractions on that side of the river." Milo stood up and the boat rocked alarmingly so she hastily sat down again!
Home
You arrive home just at sunset. While not as fantastic looking as some of the places you encountered, with its simple stony path, and old, weathered fencing, overlooking the river and lands that invited you onto this adventure to begin with, you are glad to call this place "home."

@ Sweet Dreams
Mac is considering the merits of another Fantastic Building when Finley comes along. "Wow! That completes the set!" says Finley. Mac is amazed to have collected all three items!
