Frank and Jaylee now know where to find Fantastic Buildings, as they have been given a free map! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Idyll
The pets will gather on the picnic benches outside the community centre before commencing their country ramble. Let's hope those lunch bags remain intact for a few more hours! The tour encompasses country buildings from watermills and windmills to barns, some unusual stone buildings, including a lovely hobbit-type dwelling, and there are some scenes of chocolate-box prettiness. Those pets who have the energy left might like to swim out to the island in the centre of the lake or climb up to a fun tree-house! Others may prefer to explore a formal house and gardens or just relax by the beach!

Attention all pets! Will each group of travelers please gather together at the picnic tables? The horse-drawn carriages will be arriving soon to take you on your tour of Idyll.

@ Quiet Country Road
“Let's just drink in this scene, shall we, Frank?” suggested Sea Breeze, sinking down on a convenient tree stump.
Frank agreed it was well worth spending some time there!

Sheep have just been let out to graze near this quiet country road. The morning fog should begin to lift soon, but there is still plenty of great scenery to behold. I hope you brought your camera!

@ Idyll Creek Mill
“Shall we stop and have our lunch here, Frank?” asked Wrex .
“Yes, it seems a good spot, Wrex! Let's perch on those treestumps there!"

Abandoned but not forgotten, this mill was once a very busy place. The creek is all but a trickle now and the milling is now done in a nearby factory. Oh to have seen the mill in its heyday.

@ Weathered Stable
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Frank," said Snowilicious, "for this experience alone?" Frank, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

The presence of the nearby fort ensures the safety of any horse that shelters in this stable for the night. The horses pulling all our carriages know this place well and give it 5-star rating.

“It would be great fun to camp overnight, wouldn't it, Tressla?” said Frank.
Tressla shivered. “Brrrrrrrr! I think it would be a little too cold, Frank! I like my creature comforts!"

When you see old abandoned homesteads like this does your mind try to imagine what the dwellers' lives were like? Who lived here? What did they enjoy doing? Why did they leave? I want to know!

“I could stay here forever, Frank,” said fancy. “This is an amazing place!” “Well, you never know what lies ahead, fancy. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Frank.

@ Old Log Cabin
Ivory studied the route map. “We've got a very varied route here, haven't we, Frank?” she said.
“We certainly do, Ivory! Stand by with the gloves and scarves, and perhaps the wellington boots and a waterproof hat for the other side!"

Crafted the old-fashioned way, each log in this old log cabin was harvested from the forest, peeled by hand, and painstakingly stacked to make one of the most durable little homes in the valley.

Mochi glanced at the map. “Oh, Frank, perhaps we could do some beach yoga at the end!"
“I don't think so, Mochi! Not with everyone watching!" replied Frank.

A gentle creak and a soft ‘whoosh’ as the sails zip past is all you hear when standing close to a windmill. These days, it’s easy to forget that a century or so ago these iconic Dutch windmills were quite common and very versatile.

Frank is enjoying Fantastic Buildings when Choose a name Thisisme comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Choose a name Thisisme. Frank looks down and sees something valuable. Choose a name Thisisme generously lets Frank keep it!
Verdant Summer Grass
One of the joys of a summer drive in the country is seeing the beauty of the verdant grasses in the meadows and fields where little pets frolic and play.
Weathered Farmhouse
Wish we could stop and sit for a spell and listen to the farmer who lives here tell us about "The Good Ole Days." I can picture sitting around the fireplace, hearing the sounds of a crackling fire as he tells us story after story when this farm was a bustling place.

Frank opened his rucksack to change his hat. Andrew could see Frank had a large, floppy sunhat, a balaclava, a rain hat, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a swimming cap! “Did you bring a fez too?” Andrew asked Frank.

“Oh wow, Frank, there's a butterfly!” Sarah cried out.
“It must be a Red Admiral, then, because I don't know of any others that are around this late in the year," replied Frank knowledgeably.

This quaint little home with a sod roof sits atop a bluff with a gorgeous view no matter where you stand on the property. With mountains and valleys, the location is a picture of life.

Majestic purple mountains provide a dramatic backdrop for the vast prairie land and the old weathered barn. This view certainly brings the song lyrics "purple mountain majesty" to life!

Frank and Szurke were entranced at reaching this stopping place and eagerly posed for a picture standing on either side of the new attraction they had just seen!

Leaving the snowy mountains behind us we encounter these charming thatch-roof homes tucked near the base of a steep hillside shrouded in fog. Seems like it would be an idyllic place to see sheep grazing behind the homes.

Frank is admiring some Fantastic Buildings when Choose a name comes along. "Look! Another special prize!" says Choose a name. Frank looks down and sees it. Choose a name generously lets Frank keep it!

One of the joys of a summer drive in the country is seeing the pastoral beauty of the rows of verdant roadside trees as they form a canopy over you, shading you from the rays of the hot summer sun and refreshing your soul.
Lonesome Pine Ridge
Reminiscent of the Appalachian Mountains the pets that live in this misty plot of land are still carving out an existence farming the land with rudimentary farming tools. These simple folk prefer it that way and are unfussed with modern 'contraptions,' as they call them.

Frank and Abby agreed that the variety of environments on their expedition was the best ever! Frank and Abby exchanged opinions on which their favourite attraction had been so far!

@ Dwarf Cottage

The cottage of the six dwarves that you have never heard of; Jumpy, Zippy, Floppy, Cranky, Fuzzy, and Bert. One day on their way home from work, they bought some beans from a kid named Jack. They planted them in the yard and the stalk grew into a gigantic tree, engulfing their cottage. At first, they wondered how to get rid of it but now it's "grown on them" because they are making lots of money from tourists wanting to climb it.

“Let’s pose with one of us each side of this attraction and I’ll set the self-timer to take a shot,” said Frank to Lady Jane. “It’ll be a fab souvenir of our time here!”

Treehouses are not just for kittens, cubs, and pups anymore. This treehouse is a real rental home for adults who wish to get away for a little rest and relaxation in fun style.

“If there's time at the end when we get back to the community centre, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," Tweetie said, offering Frank a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for herself.
“That sounds like a good plan, Tweetie!" said Frank.
Old Grist Mill
No longer in use, this old grist mill is one of many that can be found along the rivers that flow throughout Idyll. It stands as a memorial to a bygone era.

@ The Shire
Frank and Etta were entranced at reaching this stopping place and eagerly posed for a picture standing on either side of the new attraction they had just seen!

Our horse and carriage feels right at home as we rumble past the little home where we expect little hobbit-like creatures to be puttering about in the garden and talking of grand adventures. I wonder if an old wizard can be found nearby setting off fireworks.

Churches such as this one are commonly used for a variety of social events in addition to the weekly worship time. Nearby residents gather for community meals and other family-oriented events.

While Frank paused to drink in the view, Arty started scrabbling in her rucksack for her portable, foldable camping chair. “What are you doing with that, Arty?” asked Frank. “We’ll need to get going in a minute or we’ll be left behind!”

Frank is considering the merits of another Fantastic Building when Whoot comes along. "Wow! That completes the set!" says Whoot. Frank is amazed to have collected all three items!
