Episode 1/27

@ Sled Dog in Training
Skye and Balthazar have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

Episode 2/27

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
Skye opened her rucksack to find her hat. ❤️ Puff could see Skye had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” ❤️ Puff asked Skye.
Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
Tornado was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Skye unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Tornado’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Tornado. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”
Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

@ Fox on the Prowl
"How many needles grow on a pine tree, Flip Flop Flap?" said Skye.
"Goodness, I don't know, Skye. How many?"
"All of them!"

Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
Casper was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Skye unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Casper’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Casper. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”
Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

Firefly was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as Skye unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which she succeeded in knocking Firefly’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” urged Firefly. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be entirely of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”
Squirrel in the Snow
I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

@ Snowy Cabin in the Forest
“Would you like to learn a useful spelling rule, Archie?” asked Skye.
"Go on?" said Archie.
"I goes before E—except when your foreign neighbour Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters!" declared Skye.
Snowy Cabin in the Forest
The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

@ Frosty-Nosed Welcome
“I was pretending to be an Arctic explorer in the husky sled on the way here, Skye,” revealed Hero.
"Is that why you kept yelling: 'Mush! Mush!' at them?" asked Skye. "Hey, what would happen if you shouted the wrong command and they suddenly did a U-turn?"
"I reckon we'd all be flung out headfirst into the nearest snowdrift," grinned Hero.

Welcome to my neck of the woods! I know you'll love it here as much as I do. You don't happen to have a carrot in your backpack, do you? I could use a little snack as I've been sniffing around trying to find something to munch on under the snow.

@ Snow-Covered Fence
“It would be great fun to camp in the snow overnight, wouldn't it, Oscar?” said Skye."In the morning you'd fill your kettle with snow and boil it suspended from a tripod of sticks, like they do in books."
Oscar shivered. “You must be fond of adventure books, Skye! I'd rather have four solid walls round me at night, actually!"
Snow-Covered Fence
The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

@ European Crested Tit
“I'm already looking forward to tonight's hot drink by the fire, Skye,” said Nessie.
"Hey, a snowshoe expedition will warm you up!" replied Skye.

A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

@ Misty Evergreen Forest
“How do you talk to a bunch of pine trees all at once, Skye?" grinned Chewbie.
"How?" asked Skye guardedly.
"On a coniference call!"

An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo
Choose a name and Skye were musing on the concept of hygge.
“Is the reason there's no word for this in English because England is a cold, damp little island with an awful train service?"
Skye considered this. "Well, they could still go indoors out of the rain and curl up in an armchair with a good book and stuff."

A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

@ Snowy Stillness
Skye and Choose a name shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

@ Snowy Owl Duet
“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything snowy, Tweety Pi,” responded Flutterbye. “There’s snowshoes, snow boots, Wellington boots, a pair of grippy things, ear muffs—you name it, I’ve got it!”

Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

@ Winter Guardian
“If there's time at the end when we get back to our accommodation, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," DaiDai said, offering Skye a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for himself.
“That sounds like a good plan, DaiDai!" said Skye. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

@ Making Tracks
“A picture of this would look lovely printed on Christmas cards, wouldn't it, Skye?” miss nibbles said.
“It certainly would, miss nibbles!" said Skye.

A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

"Hey, Skye, how does a coniferous tree get ready for a date?" asked Lady Thea.
"Tell me?" said Skye.
"It spruces itself up!" chortled Lady Thea.

@ Woodpile of Warmth
Skye and purple shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

They say when you cut wood that it warms you twice. Some pet has already experienced the first warmth. Now the wood is stacked and ready to be used to warm a second time.

Skye is tired out and ready to go home when Precious comes along. "Wow! You find a special prize!" says Precious. Skye turns round and found it was just behind them!
Frosty Butterflies
Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.
Cocoa Bar
Anything you could possibly want for your hot cocoa is in this handy tray. I'm just going to pile mine high with marshmallows and a piece of dark chocolate candy.
