An atmospheric picture of a tree lined valley filled with evening fog, lying thick in some places but thinning in others, evokes a feeling of gloom and foreboding. Let's hope the morning sun will dispel the fog and make it a happier place!

“If there's time at the end when we get back tonight, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," Summer! said, offering Charlie a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for herself.

"What's black and white and makes lots of noise?" asked Charlie chuckling.
Mystic sighed heavily. "A piano played by an orangutan?" she hazarded.
Charlie looked miffed. "It's a zebra with a drum!"
Mystic was unimpressed. "How would a zebra play a drum? A piano is a much better answer," she said curtly.

Battenburg? Did someone say Battenburg? I'll have me some of that marzipan covered sponge confection! Oh! No, it's the Beatenburg Mountains in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. In stark black and white, this makes a striking scene!

"Why must zebras be the oldest animals on earth?" queried Rufus.
"Why?" said Charlie suspiciously.
"Because they are still black and white!"

Imagine being back in the 19th century, having been invited to dinner in this stately home followed by dancing in this splendid ballroom. With its high, arched windows, ornate chandeliers, and musicians tuning up their instruments ready for the formal dancing to start, men in formal tailcoats and the ladies in graceful, long dresses, it would be the start of a gorgeous and convivial evening!

Here we have a splendid black-and-white Dutch guinea pig and a self-coloured black, meaning it is black all over. Guinea pigs are herd animals and must have companionship of their own kind. A guinea pig should never be kept on its own.

This slightly battered chalkboard is a handy piece of paraphernalia to salvage and display proudly in your modern kitchen, combining retro style and practical use! "Put the recycling out tonight!" — "Get ½ lb butter" — "Football practice on the 5th" — each reminder can simply be rubbed off and another chalked in its place when necessary!

Climb this hill and at the top, rest in solitude on this thoughtfully provided bench under a bare tree. Gaze out on the scene below you to the far horizon. It's a good place to practise meditation in peace or simply enjoy nature.
