Gorge, named after a 200-metre sea-filled gorge that travels north to the sea. The village was first mentioned in 1584 but it is thought to have been in existence a lot longer. There are no native trees on the Faroe Islands. There is evidence that there may have been some stands of Birch and Hazel before human settlement. There are a few stands of trees that have been planted between 1800 and 1900. This location was also used in the James Bond movie, No Time To Die, and one can see why it was chosen.
