Gor-Don is questing! Episode 1/25

"Thrbl, do you feel that?" Gnk buzzed excitedly.
Thrbl, pink and white and furry, paused mid-stride and looked round. It felt a gentle tremor beneath its paws, a vibration that resonated through the pink crystal­line sands of their home planet. "What is it, Gnk?"
Gnk's compound eyes gleamed with curiosity as it skitter­ed closer. "It's like the heart­beat of Pink, but...different." The large fuchsia-coloured insect pointed one of its six limbs to the sky where their two moons appear­ed to be play­ing hide and seek with the clouds. "I think some­thing wonder­ful is about to happen."

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 2/25

The friends hurried to their spaceship, a sophisticated five-floored vessel that reflected the hues of the surround­ing land­scape. Inside, the dash­board lit up with an array of colours, react­ing to the un­familiar tremor. "We should investigate," Thrbl said, its voice a mix of eagerness and caution.
Gnk nodded in agreement, and they both climbed into their seats. The space­ship hummed to life, lifting off the ground with a gentle whoosh. They soar­ed into the sky, the moons growing larger as the craft approached the epi­centre of the disturbance. The air grew thick with antici­pation, the pink clouds part­ing to reveal an ancient, over­grown forest they had never seen before.

They descended into the heart of the woods, the spaceship's sensors beep­ing erratically as they approach­ed a clearing. There, nestled among the giant pink ferns, lay two eggs. One was a dark green, with small scales like a dragon’s egg, and the other a gleam­ing gold. The tremors grew strong­er, the ground pulsing rhythm­ically like a heartbeat.
"Thrbl, these eggs ... they're alive!" Gnk exclaimed. The furry alien leaned closer, its breath mist­ing in the cool air as it studied the eggs. The green one pulsed with a gentle light, while the golden one emanat­ed a warm, comfort­ing glow. They both felt a strange pull towards them, a silent beckon­ing that seem­ed to speak direct­ly to their souls. "We must protect these," Thrbl murmured, its voice filled with a sense of urgency.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 4/25

They carefully placed the eggs into the designated compart­ments within their spaceship. The moment they were secured, the tremors ceased, and the forest grew still. Thrbl looked at Gnk, who nodded solemn­ly. They both knew that these eggs held great signifi­cance for their planet, and they were now guard­ians of the life within.
With a shared sense of purpose, they decided to visit Earth, a planet they had heard whisper­ed about in the cosmos, rich with diverse life forms and peculiar customs. They hastily prepar­ed their craft, check­ed the eggs were secure, and set off. Upon land­ing on Earth, they open­ed the hatch to their space­craft with some trepid­ation. What would they find? On descend­ing to terra firma, they looked round cautious­ly, and jumped, startled, when they saw they were being regarded curious­ly by several animals.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 5/25

“It’s okay, we’re used to space travellers,” said one animal, a Baby Gourdee called Gor-Don, in a kindly way. “What are your names?”
“I’m Thrbl and this is Gnk,” said the furry alien, after check­ing the auto­matic trans­lator was on.
“Oh! Where are you from—Planet No-Vowels?” laughed Gor-Don, and the other animals also chuckled. The two aliens imitated their new friends by join­ing in the laughter, although they didn’t under­stand what vowels were. Or jokes, for that matter. But their module on “How to Fit In With Earth Inhabitants”, which they had plugged into their internal know­ledge bases on their journ­ey here, came in handy. (They hoped they wouldn’t need the advice given in the special appendix: “How to Fit In With the English”, because—well, were they even human? They sounded weird!)
“Come and have a look around!” invited Gor-Don.
Gnk and Thrbl found they were in a region inhabit­ed by a huge variety of animals, where the air was filled with the voices, activities and laughter of creatures that were un­known on Pink. The pets were prepar­ing for a cele­bration called Halloween, and the festive spirit was contagious.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 6/25

For days, Thrbl and Gnk observed these curious beings, marvel­ling at the colour­ful costumes and the history of the October-end festival, which dated back thousands of years. They had very little under­stand­ing of what such a period of time signified, as the concept of time was different on Pink. But they saw creativity and joy in every corner, and the idea of dress­ing up to embrace the unusual intrigued them. Gor-Don spoke of spooky stories and myth­ical creatures, which re­minded them of the tales their ancestors had shared about the Great Pink Eclipse that brought forth rare and magical life forms.
One evening, whilst watching their hosts from a polite distance, they over­heard a whisper­ed con­versa­tion about hidden treasures. The pets spoke of a myster­ious under­water cave where a rare sea­horse lived, and how it was said that during the full moon on Halloween night, some­thing extra­ordinary would happen. The mention of an egg hatch­ing reminded them of the eggs safely stow­ed in their cargo, and they realised the green egg might be connect­ed to this Earthly legend.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 7/25

Thrbl and Gnk decided to investigate further. Their friend Gor-Don sought out a very old and very wise tortoise, who spoke to Gnk and Thrbl of ancient Earth traditions and the power of the moon's cycles. He con­firmed their suspicion that Halloween night could indeed be significant for the green egg. "It is a night of trans­formation," the tortoise explained in his slow, deliberate tone, "when the veil between worlds is thin, and creatures of myth and magic are born anew."
Guided by the waxing moon, they found the hidden cave by the sea, and placed the green egg in the calm waters at the base of the cave.

The green egg began to glow brightly, the light casting eerie shadows across the cavern walls. Suddenly, the egg cracked open, revealing a creature un­like any they had seen before. It was a dark green seahorse.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 9/25

The seahorse looked around, his eyes wide with wonder at the new world it had entered. It seemed to recognise the aliens as guard­ians, lift­ing his head out of the water and nuzzling gently against Thrbl's pink fur. "It's beautiful," Gnk breathed, awe­struck. They watched as the sea­horse grew before their eyes. It had grown wings, and it took a tentative flight onto the sandy floor of the cave, leaving a trail of glitter­ing sea water behind it.
The creature looked at them, a silent question in its eyes. Thrbl stepped forward, extend­ing a paw in a gesture of peace. The sea­horse took a moment before he approach­ed, its new wings flutter­ing colt­ishly with each step. It was clear that he was still learn­ing to navi­gate the gravity of this new world. "Welcome, little one," Thrbl murmur­ed, strok­ing the creature's slender neck with a gentle touch. The sea­horse leaned into the contact, a soft whinny escaping him.

After consultation with their new earthly friends, the aliens decided to give the sea­horse a name that in English—and with at least one vowel—would be Zephyr, after the gentle west wind that had guided them to this place. (They found incompre­hens­ible the argu­ment that broke out among the pets as to whether “y” was a vowel or not.) Gnk and Thrbl felt a bond with the creature, as if they had known it all along. They watch­ed as Zephyr grew more confident, his wings strong­er with each flight he took out­side the cave. The animals of the Earth were equally amazed by the creature's beauty, and whispers of its arrival spread like wild­fire through the countryside.

Meanwhile, the golden egg remained in their space­ship, its warm glow a constant remind­er of the second life they were en­trusted to protect. The animals spoke of unicorns, myth­ical creatures of Earth lore, and how they were said to bring peace and prosperity. Thrbl and Gnk knew that the egg had to be linked to these legends.
The night of Halloween drew closer, and with it, the antici­pation grew. They found a quiet barn, the perfect setting for the golden egg's hatching. The full moon cast a soft glow around the barn entrance. Thrbl and Gnk placed the egg in a cosy heap of fresh hay.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 12/25

The creatures of the land gathered around the barn, not wanting to en­croach on the moment of birth. The animals whispered amongst them­selves, sharing tales of un­tame­able unicorns that once roamed the Earth, especially in Scotland. The golden egg began to quiver. Suddenly, with a sound like a symphony of chimes, the egg cracked open. A dazzling being emerged, a small cream-coloured unicorn bathed in a soft golden aura which high­lighted the colour of her mane and tail. Its horn shone like the sun, casting beams of light through the open barn door.
Thrbl and Gnk watched in wonder as the unicorn took her first wobbly steps. She was even more magnifi­cent than they could have imagined, with a mane and tail of pure golden brown that shimmered in the moonlight. The creature looked around, taking in her surround­ings with a calm dignity remark­able for one so young.
They named the unicorn Solara, after the sun that baked the pink sands of their home planet. The Earth animals would come to see her, lost in admir­ation, their fears and worries melting away. The barn was bathed in a warm, sooth­ing glow, and even the air seemed to hum with new­found harmony.

Zephyr frolicked in the waves of the sea by day, often joined by Solara, who other­wise grazed in the fields, casting a soft light that made even the dark­est corners of the forest feel welcoming. The creatures of Earth were enamoured by the alien visitors, and tales of their beauty and grace spread like wildfire.
As Halloween approached, the excitement grew. The animals had never seen such wondrous beings, and they couldn't help but feel that their presence was a sign of something extraordinary.

On the night of Halloween, the creatures of the land gather­ed in a clearing, their costumes a riot of colour and imagination. Thrbl and Gnk had learnt of the human tradition of dress­ing up to hide one's true form, and they felt a kinship with these beings who embraced the unusual.

The seahorse danced gracefully beside Thrbl. Solara trotted regally beside Gnk, her horn cast­ing beams of light.
The creatures of Earth gathered around, their eyes wide. Thrbl and Gnk shared the story of the eggs and the tremors of Planet Pink, and how they had been drawn to this night of trans­formation. The animals listen­ed in rapt attention. They had never seen such beauty, such power, and they knew that these guard­ians had brought some­thing special to their world.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 16/25

But amidst the revelry, a shadow loomed. A group of creat­ures, known as the Night Terrors, had heard of the myth­ical beings and saw them as a challenge to their domin­ance over the night. They were a band of mis­fits, creatures that were fear­ed for their strange appear­ances and rumour­ed dark powers. Their leader, a hulk­ing bat named Nocturn, had a ven­detta against those who threaten­ed the order of fear he had work­ed so hard to maintain.
The Night Terrors crashed the cele­bration, casting a pall of dread over the once festive clearing.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 17/25

Gnk took to the skies, its wings a blur of fuchsia fire. It zipped around the clearing, rally­ing the creatures of the land. "Do not fear!" it buzzed. "The magic of Halloween is on our side!" The animals took heart, draw­ing strength from the alien's valour. They gather­ed make­shift weapons, ready, despite being peace­able by nature, to defend the sea­horse and unicorn.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 18/25

Zephyr, feeling the tension, let out a piercing cry that echo­ed through the forest. A shock­wave rippled out from the impact, knock­ing the Night Terrors back. Solara, equally deter­mined, lower­ed her head and charged. Her horn emitted brilliant, jagged beams of light, slicing through the dark­ness. The Night Terrors screech­ed in horror as the light expos­ed the true nature of their twisted forms. The once-feared creatures were reveal­ed to be nothing more than mis­under­stood animals, their features distort­ed by the shadows of the night.
The animals of the land watched in amazement as Zephyr and Solara stood their ground, their newfound powers illuminating the clearing.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 19/25

Nocturn, the bat leader of the Night Terrors, bared his teeth in a snarl. "You may have power," he hissed, "but we have numbers!"
But Thrbl and Gnk knew that true strength lay in unity and love, not in fear and dominance.
The Night Terrors, though numer­ous, were no match for the combin­ed might of the guard­ians and their allies. Each time they approach­ed, they were met with a surge of water from Zephyr or a blast of light from Solara's horn. The animals of Earth, inspired by their bravery, joined the fight.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 20/25

In the heat of the battle, Gor-Don darted through the chaos. "Let go of your fear," he shouted at Nocturn, "and embrace the wonder of this night!" With a mighty swing of his fold­ed green umbrella, he sliced through the dark­ness that clung to Nocturn, free­ing him from his self-imposed prison.
The bat, now bath­ed in the soft light of Solara, look­ed down at Gor-Don in astonish­ment. His eyes, once filled with malice, now held a glimmer of under­standing. He realised that fear had been his weapon, and without it, he was just another creature seek­ing belong­ing. The other Night Terrors, wit­nessing their leader's trans­formation, began to lose their fervour for the fight. One by one, the shadowy creatures dropped their menac­ing facades, re­vealing their true forms. They were not monsters, but lost souls seeking accept­ance. The animals of the land, recognis­ing their own fears reflect­ed in these creatures, reach­ed out with open paws and gentle hooves, inviting them into the warmth of their fold.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 21/25

Nocturn, the bat, looked down at Thrbl, his leathery wings drooping. "We thought ... we were alone," he murmur­ed, his voice crack­ing with emotion. "We only wanted to be seen."
Gnk buzzed over to him. "You are seen," the insect said firm­ly. "You are part of this world, just as Zephyr and Solara are part of ours. You are wel­come here, to share in the cele­bration of Halloween."
The Night Terrors, their hearts touched by the guardians' kind­ness, began to shed their shadows. They trans­formed before the eyes of the animals, their twist­ed forms melt­ing away to reveal creatures of the night in their true splendour. A murmur of amaze­ment rippled through the crowd as they saw the bats, owls, and other nocturnal beings in a new light.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 22/25

Thrbl looked at Gnk, and they both knew it was time to share the true pur­pose of their visit. They gather­ed every­one around and told the story of the Great Pink Eclipse and the prophecy of the moon's children. The animals listened in rapt silence, their eyes reflecting the glow of the fading stars.
"Zephyr and Solara," Thrbl announced, "are here to bring balance to your world. They carry the essence of Pink within them, a remind­er that even in dark­ness, there is beauty and light."
The animals whisper­ed among them­selves, the gravity of the situation settling in. They had heard of prophecies and legend­ary beings before, but none had ever come to life before their very eyes. "Their powers are bound to the love and harmony of this land. They are here to remind you to cherish one another, regard­less of what the night may hide."

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 23/25

Zephyr, the seahorse, flitted forward, his emerald eyes reflect­ing the first light of dawn. He bent his neck and touched his nose to the earth, a gesture of peace and unity. The animals watch­ed in amaze­ment as a sprig of pink grass grew from the spot, a symbol of the life and light he brought with her from the sea.
Solara, the golden unicorn, raised her horn high. The light grew so intense it seemed to pierce the very fabric of the early morning sky. As the beam of light touched the clouds, they trans­formed into a tapestry of pink and gold, a dazzling dis­play of the new­found friend­ship between the guardians and the Earth's creatures. The animals cheered, their voices a symphony of hope and joy.
The festivities continued, with Zephyr and Solara at the centre. They played and danced among the animals, bringing a sense of wonder and magic to the celebration. The creatures of the land watched in amaze­ment as the unicorn's aura grew brighter with each act of kind­ness and love shared between them. It was as if their hearts were beat­ing in unison with the pulse of the planet.

Gor-Don is questing! Episode 24/25

Thrbl spoke to the animals, "The time has come for us to return to our planet. But fear not, for Zephyr and Solara will remain as guard­ians of your lands."
The animals looked sad, but also hopeful. They knew that with these myth­ical beings among them, their world would be a safer, more magic­al place. Gnk stepped for­ward. "We will not abandon you," it assured them. "We will watch over you from the stars, and if you ever need us, just look to the night sky and call our names."
With heavy hearts, Thrbl and Gnk boarded their space­ship. The Earth pets gather­ed around the vessel, their eyes filled with wonder and sorrow. As the ship lifted off, the pink grasses sway­ed in the breeze, a gentle re­minder of the aliens' promise. The ship soared into the sky on its way back to Planet Pink, leaving a trail of spark­ling star­dust in its wake.
