Slowbe and Cherrie are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Red
Fall foliage in striking hues of red and orange will be seen all around on this tour along the riverbank. Your pet can collect pine cones, sample wild berries and currants, view beautiful plants in purple and red, and perhaps spot some exotic birdlife! Everypet will enjoy lingering on the bridge to view the peaceful scene as the sun goes down turning the river pink as it does so ...
PnF Meeting House
Before we begin the journey we need to check-in here to pick up a trail map and some travel snacks. Be sure to sign the register with how many are in your travel party and how long you plan to be on the trail. Don't forget to take a potty break before you head out!

Episode 2/25

@ Sleepy River Sunrise
On his way round The Autumn Experience, Prince bumped into Slowbe. They both paused to drink in the beautiful scene before them before going on to the next location.

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the sky, casting a warm glow on the sleepy river and the sleepy pets in the village. We begin our journey early in the cool of the day as the PnF weatherpet has predicted an unusually warm autumn day ahead.

@ Sunrise Silhouette
“I’ve written a postcard to Mrs Eucalyptus about this amazing Autumn Experience!” said Slowbe. “She’ll wish she were here! Where’s the nearest postbox?”
Lunaray shielded her eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t know how it comes about, but they appear not to have thought to provide a postbox here, Slowbe. How remiss of them!” Seeing Slowbe’s ears beginning to droop, Lunaray added, “Don’t worry, you can post your card after this leg of the Experience!”

As the sun continues to rise and the chill of the morning gives way, some of the hikers begin to shed their warm jackets and stuff them in their packs. A lone plant is dramatically silhouetted in the sun's golden light.

Episode 4/25

@ Autumn Stillness
“I could stay here forever, Slowbe,” said Hyacinthie. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Hyacinthie. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said Slowbe.

As we behold the beauty of the golden leaves in the nearby trees, some clouds have rolled in, obscuring the sun for a bit. Some small fish in the river below are dining on insects that skim along the surface, creating little ripples on the calm water.

@ Orange Splendor
Slowbe normally avoided tourist hotspots but he was glad he had come, especially since meeting his friend Skye here!

The glorious colors of autumn overflow in profusion along the trail prompting a chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahs' among the travelers. We pause and stare in rapturous awe for a moment before proceeding.

@ Ginger Root
“I’m going to try growing these at home!” announced Slowbe, after he and Tristan had tucked into some yummy organic harvest food!
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a well-known natural remedy for some common ailments. If you are prone to stomach upset and indigestion, nibbling on a small piece of raw ginger or drinking ginger tea can help alleviate your symptoms. But it is most useful on the journey as it helps your body to recover from muscle soreness after over-exertion. It will definitely come in handy today!

@ Japanese Maple in Orange
Slowbe and Norris had shaken paws and took some time to enjoy the super view in a companionable silence!

An important reminder when one is out on an adventure: remember to look up! There is so much beauty around us, we don't want to miss any of it, especially when it is something as wonderful as the sun's rays filtering through the orange leaves of this Japanese Maple tree.

Prudence shook paws with Slowbe and was just enjoying the view when she was distracted by loud rustling as Slowbe unfolded a very lengthy Autumn Experience itinerary, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Prudence’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Prudence. “I’m about to take a photo of this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”

See, glancing upward occasionally does have its benefits! As we continue along the trail we see a different variety of Japanese Maple, no less beautiful than the orange one. A treat to our eyes, this one is adorned in a fabulous crimson red.

@ Delightful Dahlia
“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Granville said to Slowbe. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

The PnF gardener has done a fabulous job landscaping along the trail. Pots of flowers have been placed throughout to display an array of vivid autumn colors. This deep pink hued dahlia is delightful!

@ Marvelous Magenta Flower
"Kokoro, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Slowbe.

@ Nectar Delight
“Isn’t this amazing, Choose a name?” declared Slowbe. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

Be still and maybe it won't see you. Look over there on that red flower. It's a Micronesian Myzomela, and I almost didn't see it as it is somewhat camouflaged by the wispy red flowers it is sipping nectar from.

@ Red Berries
“What’s this flower called?” Slowbe said to Priya. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Priya and hastily changed the subject.

@ Basket of Pine Cones
Slowbe was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to Casper, when they met and shook paws.

According to the note attached to the basket, each of us is supposed to take a pine cone and plant the seeds in the designated area ahead. A park ranger will give us instructions when we get there. A pine forest covered in fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful sights to see in winter. I'm happy to help add to that beauty!

Slowbe was very happy to meet Mia here! They both swapped tales of their experiences of their travels so far!

@ Autumn Rose Bouquet
“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Slowbe to Laveme.

The unmistakable fragrance of roses captures my attention as I leave the wooded area. I look down to see a beautiful arrangement of autumn-hued roses in a white ceramic pot.

@ Perfect Spot for a Campsite
Slowbe and Pekoe pooled their silver moles, hoping to buy a small souvenir or two to remind them of this beautiful place!

“Great to meet you again, Mrs. Dylan!” said Slowbe. “Come and have some of this farm-grown organic food—it’s absolutely yummy!”

"This is a glorious specimen, Alaska", observed Slowbe. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Slowbe?" said Alaska. "Buy a garden gnome!"

@ Shiny Redcurrant Berries
Slimer and Slowbe counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared Slimer.

Wild redcurrants can be found all over the countryside. They look temptingly sweet to eat, but these shiny red berries are usually made into redcurrant jelly because of their tartness.

@ Red and Purple Leafy Vine
Mac bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Mac?” asked Slowbe.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Mac.

Growing on the side of the bridge is a mass of deep red and purple leafy vines. Deep blue berries hang in bunches just waiting to be eaten.

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Mr. Panda.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Slowbe. "Is he on this tour?"

Two beautiful waterlily dahlias in a vase create the perfect simple, yet elegant look. The stunning large blooms need no other adornment.

“Isn’t this amazing, Midnight Majesty?” declared Slowbe. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

@ Teasels and Carnations
“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Alex.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Slowbe. "Is he on this tour?"
Teasels and Carnations
Teasel weeds are a very common roadside plant. They look beautiful for being a weed, don't they? They are a favorite among crafters as they can be dried and painted any color. These lovely bi-color pink carnations pair perfectly with the purple painted teasels.

“These make a fine display, don’t they, Slowbe?” said Jasper, when he and Slowbe had shaken paws.

A sea of red leaves act as the perfect backdrop to showcase yet another patch of little blue berries. I'm not hungry so I'll leave these for another traveler.
