The flag of the state of New Hampshire consists of the state seal centred on a blue background. The Great Seal depicts the frigate USS Raleigh and is surrounded by a laurel wreath with nine stars. The Raleigh is one of the first 13 warships sponsored by the Continental Congress for a new American navy, built in 1776, at Portsmouth. The seal is surrounded by a laurel wreath. The wreath is an ancient symbol of fame, honour, and victory. The nine stars within the wreath show that New Hampshire was the ninth state to join the Union. The water stands for the harbour of Portsmouth, and in the yellow-coloured spit of land is granite, a strong igneous rock, representing both New Hampshire's rugged landscape and the sturdy character of her people.

The first painted eggs came from Mesopotamia, and because eggs were forbidden food during Lent, people painted eggs while Lent was being observed—after Lent, they would eat the eggs on Easter Day.

Beautifully decorated eggs “pysanka” are associated with Ukraine, and the oldest painted egg that was unearthed in northern Ukraine is dated to the end of the 17th century.

A rock formation in Franconia Notch State Park is featured on the state's commemorative quarter. The face of the Old Man of the Mountain has since collapsed but the beauty of the White Mountain area is still unmatched.

The first state to have a constitution was New Hampshire. In 1776, New Hampshire’s first state constitution was approved. Later replaced by a revised constitution in 1784, the state’s second constitution included a bill of rights and a guarantee to the right to revolution. In fact, the state’s motto: Live Free or Die is embraced within the amended Constitution of New Hampshire.

St. Paul’s School was founded in 1856 when George Shattuck established a school for boys in Concord, New Hampshire. Originally established on 50 acres of land, the grounds now comprise 2,000 idyllic acres, which include 25 miles of wooded trails, four ponds, and the upper third of the Turkey River. These spaces facilitate respect for one’s spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being, and for the natural environment, all of which are central to the School’s mission.

In 1934, a wind speed of 231 miles per hour at the observatory once held the record for highest wind speed ever recorded. Mount Washington is still considered to be one of the windiest places on earth.

Bananas was distracted by the sounds of loud rustling as ALF unfolded a very large tourist map, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Bananas’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” said Bananas, exasperated. “We’re about to pose beside this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up PDQ!”

Chocorua Lake is a picturesque lake covering 222 acres in northeast New Hampshire. The lake is most noted for its calm, serene setting. There is little to no development surrounding it, and its stunning views of the bald summit of Mount Chocorua are unblemished by radio antennas.

ALF good-naturedly took charge of Alexandra's possessions while she emptied her rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the gloves right at the bottom. These she donned and then ALF helped her put everything back in her rucksack.

Surprisingly, Garwin Falls is situated on private property so access is limited. Some residents have found trash along the trails and have had to reduce the number of parking spots. The local police issue tickets to visitors parking illegally. Come on, we can do better! Please don't spoil our beautiful areas!

White Mountain National Forest is spread through the states of New Hampshire and Maine. Popular trails include the White Mountain Trail and part of the Appalachian Trail and if you prefer to sightsee by car then you will want to drive the Kancamagus Scenic Drive.

Built in 1758 by famed African-American master housewright, Hopestill Cheswell, it was a boarding house owned by a widow, Sarah Purcell. John Paul Jones boarded there from 1781 to 1782.
