"Ah-ha, I know this!" exclaimed Splash. "It used to be Frobisher Bay from its location but regained its traditional Inuktitut name of Iqaluit when the territory was created. That means “place of fish”, you know."

Yukon Ice
Residents of the Yukon Territories and other arctic areas are well familiar with the dangers of ice and take great care in crossing any frozen waterways. Fast-moving rivers freeze and melt at different rates and are even more unpredictable than lakes and ponds. It is possible in sub-zero weather to have slush and only partially frozen sections so the ice can be quite deceptive and unsafe to cross.

"It says in our brochure that the Northwest Territories is the world's northern lights 'Mecca'! Pets can view the aurora borealis on an average of 200 nights per year," remarked Sunny.
"Why is the NWT so good for viewing the northern lights, Sunny?" asked Rusty.
"Well, it sounds a bit science-y, but it says it’s due to the perfect mix of the sub-arctic’s clear nights, low humidity, and convenient geography, being directly beneath the Earth's band of maximal auroral activity—the 'auroral oval'. The ideal time to see the lights is from mid-November until mid-April, then mid-August till the end of September. We're here just at the right time, Rusty!"
