@ Sled Dog in Training
ESTRELLA and Dani have been given a free map to help them enjoy their Winter Tour! Before unfolding it, they read the cover:
Winter Wildlife
A cute little fellow greets the pets this morning to herald the arrival of the morning's transport. The pets will pass wintry landscapes and greet all kinds of wildlife. They have the opportunity to explore bridges, a forest, a river and a snowbound wooden cabin before heading home in the sunset to that night's lodging. While passing the lumber store, they meet two more appealing little creatures keeping out of the cold. The pets then go inside for welcome bowls of soup and wind up their day by creating hot drinks with special chosen garnishes.
Sled Dog in Training
This pup may be young but he will learn much just by running alongside the team and hearing the musher call out the directions. Some day he may even be the lead dog.

Episode 2/27

@ Straight Ahead, Team!
“If there's time at the end when we get back to our accommodation, I might do some initial sketches for a watercolour painting," Laveme said, offering ESTRELLA a toffee from the bag and then unwrapping one for herself.
“That sounds like a good plan, Laveme!" said ESTRELLA. "And very in keeping with the hygge theme!"

Straight Ahead, Team!
Eagerly jumping in their harnesses, the sled dog team lunges forward at the sound of the driver's command to "Hike!" The sled glides along the snowy path effortlessly thanks to the well-trained team. What seems like work to us is actually a great source of joy for a sled dog. Every time a musher decides to go out, every dog in the kennel is excitedly barking and jumping, hoping they get chosen to be on the team.

@ Snowy Bench
“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything snowy, Tweety Pi,” responded Flutterbye. “There’s snowshoes, snow boots, Wellington boots, a pair of grippy things, ear muffs—you name it, I’ve got it!”
Snowy Bench
Hikers welcome a sight such as this during a long, snowy trek. Chances to sit for a bit to rest are far and few between on the trails. Benches in places like this are usually erected in memory of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors or as an eagle scout project.

@ Fox on the Prowl
ESTRELLA and NUTTER shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

Foxes have a keen sense of hearing and can hear its prey scurrying underground even under the cover of snow. It is poised to pounce quickly and seize the opportunity for a tasty hard-to-find winter snack.

@ Through the Frozen Wetlands
“What have you got in your tote bag, Flutterbye?” asked Tweety Pi. “It looks very full!”

Through the Frozen Wetlands
The carefully constructed boardwalk allows hikers to safely traverse the wetlands while protecting its inhabitants. While they are hibernating at the moment, at the first sign of spring, the environs come alive with the chorus of spring peepers and other critters who call this land home.

@ Squirrel in the Snow
ESTRELLA and Sweetie shook paws, then looked around in awe, wishing they hadn’t already eaten their lunch! This was the most perfect place to spread the waterproof blanket for a picnic!

I know I hid that corn cob somewhere around here but a recent snowfall has covered it up. Now I will have to check every lumpy spot in the snow to find it. Boy, will I be glad when I do! I'm hungry!

“I could stay here forever, ESTRELLA,” said Little Fang. “This is an amazing place!”
“Well, you never know what lies ahead, Little Fang. I wouldn't be surprised if the next stop is even better!” said ESTRELLA.

The freshly plowed path beckons you to the cozy cabin tucked into the dense evergreen forest. Oh, I can already feel the warmth of the wood-burning stove and can't wait to kick off my boots and relax under a warm quilt with a cup of hot cocoa.

@ Frosty-Nosed Welcome
“It would be great fun to camp in the snow overnight, wouldn't it, Barista?” said ESTRELLA."In the morning you'd fill your kettle with snow and boil it suspended from a tripod of sticks, like they do in books."
Barista shivered. “You must be fond of adventure books, ESTRELLA! I'd rather have four solid walls round me at night, actually!"

Welcome to my neck of the woods! I know you'll love it here as much as I do. You don't happen to have a carrot in your backpack, do you? I could use a little snack as I've been sniffing around trying to find something to munch on under the snow.

@ Snow-Covered Fence
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, ESTRELLA," said PHOENIX, "for this experience alone?"
ESTRELLA, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

The snow-covered fence marks the border of this sparse remote land. With one lone tree off in the distance and no hoof or paw prints in the freshly fallen snow, there doesn't appear to be much activity here. Perfect, just the way I like it!

@ European Crested Tit
“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cold, ESTRELLA!” said Nutsy Mouse. “Can you hold my gloves and map while I dig out my scarf?"
ESTRELLA good-naturedly took charge of Nutsy Mouse's possessions while he emptied his rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This he donned and then ESTRELLA helped him put everything back in his rucksack.

European Crested Tit
A common songbird found throughout the deciduous and coniferous forests in Central and Northern Europe, the crested tit does not migrate. It is very vocal with its nearly constant song of zee, zee, zee.

“Would you like to learn a useful spelling rule, Mitsy?” asked ESTRELLA.
"Go on?" said Mitsy.
"I goes before E—except when your foreign neighbour Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters!" declared ESTRELLA.
Misty Evergreen Forest
An unusually warm day has caused snow to melt on the hillside at the edge of the dense forest. A layer of mist hovers within the stately evergreens, shrouding any residents from our view.

@ Snowy Owl Solo
“Hey, have you seen what the next stop is, ESTRELLA?” said Geoffrey. "It looks fantastic!"
"I'll get my camera ready," said ESTRELLA.

A single snowy owl sits motionless on the ground. Under normal winter conditions, it would be well-camouflaged but the absence of snow allows us to catch a rare glimpse of its beautiful pristine feathers.

"It's turned a bit cold, ESTRELLA, I'm going to put my beanie hat on," said Sweet Pea.
"Good scheme! I'll dig my mittens out as well," said ESTRELLA.

ESTRELLA opened her rucksack to find her hat. Theo could see ESTRELLA had a beret, a balaclava, a cricket cap, a Tam o' Shanter, a woolly bobble hat, a beanie, a deerstalker hat and a Peruvian chullo!
“Did you bring a Stetson too?” Theo asked ESTRELLA.
Snowy Owl Duet
Look whoooo stopped by. The solo snowy owl's mate. Looks like we get a double treat of beautiful white feathers as this species of owl is commonly spotted in the daytime, unlike its brown cousins.

"This is fabulous, Maxwell" enthused ESTRELLA. "I'll have this photo printed and framed and display it next to my plush seal that I got in the little gift shop near Snow Beach and the model of St Basil's Cathedral from Icon!"
"You'll have a fine collection of mementos, ESTRELLA!" said Maxwell.

“Seeing these places makes me want to stay here and spend a week or two, ESTRELLA,” remarked Vinny the collector. "It looks so different!"
"Well, I guess that's the point of travel, isn't it?" said ESTRELLA. "To broaden your horizons and so on."

A lone skier and an unidentified hooman make tracks in the freshly-fallen snow. The nearby building provides a shelter for any adventuresome passersby that need it.

Butterflies are a universal symbol of transformation and change, as no creature undergoes such an amazing metamorphosis as the caterpillar to butterfly. On a spiritual level the butterfly is associated with the soul and rebirth. These delicate frosty butterflies with their wings rimmed in violet are a true delight.
