@ Scarlet Pathway
Poah and Icy are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!
Scarlet Pathway
As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

Episode 2/25

@ Illusion of Nightfall
While Poah stood drinking in the amazing view, Misty searched in her backpack for her camera, eager to capture the scene!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
Poah was in a hurry to move along and shake some more paws, but Sugie decided to stay where she was for a while, and sketch the scenery for this week's Art Challenge!

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
"Do you know what this place needs, Poah?"
"No, Sassyfly, what does it need?"
"Nothing, Poah. This scene is flawless!"

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
"Put your camera down for a minute, Poah," said Strawberry Daiquiri, "and just drink in that view!"

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
PingPing and Poah counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared PingPing.

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“I hope we can buy more of this at our local farmer's market,” observed Poah, as he and Willow tucked into a delicious food sample!

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
“Isn’t this amazing, Marcus?” declared Poah. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

@ Cinnamon Sticks and Star Anise
“Great to meet you again, Frisky!” said Poah. “Come and have some of this farm-grown organic food—it’s absolutely yummy!”

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

“These make a fine display, don’t they, Poah?” said Jesse, when she and Poah had shaken paws.

@ Chili Peppers in Basket
Poah was excited by seeing all the different harvest produce. “I’m going to apply for an allotment and start growing my own food!” he announced to Jubilee, when they met and shook paws.

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
"Wasn’t it worth coming all this way, Poah," said Rex, "for this experience alone?" Poah, admiring the scene they were now in, heartily agreed!

Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

@ Sunset Field
"mole, just take a look all around you and breathe deeply! Get that good fresh air in your lungs! Does it get any better than this?" asked Poah, who had just met mole at this Autumn Experience stop.

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Sugar" said Poah. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Poah! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Poah. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Sylvantra sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

“What’s this flower called?” Poah said to Bluey~*. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Bluey~* and hastily changed the subject.

As daylight fades into darkness the earth is bathed in soft pink and purple diffused hues. An old white picket fence stands guard as it has for years.

shakur bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, shakur?” asked Poah.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said shakur.

The sun has come out and a rare warm autumn breeze has dried up the raindrops on the leaf so now you can see what the rest of the purple-leaved plant looks like.

Amy was glad to relax and enjoy the food Poah shared with her.

“What’s this flower called?” Poah said to Jeff. “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Jeff and hastily changed the subject.

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

Poah and Angel pooled their silver moles, hoping to buy a small souvenir or two to remind them of this beautiful place!

Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

Poah is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Choose a name comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Choose a name. Poah looks down and sees something valuable. Choose a name generously lets Poah keep it!
