 | | Once upon a time, there was a great kingdom, by a sea, that was filled with rich farmland. The people of that land had farmed for centuries. The land provided far more than was needed, so the people of the Land By The Sea shared the abundance with other kingdoms. But one sad day, an angry ruler of neighbouring lands decided they wanted the rich farmland for themselves. Unhappiness and pain spread throughout all the land. High atop a mountain in the region of the farmland kingdom, a mighty blue and yellow dragon sat. This dragon sat and watched what was happening below in the farmland kingdom. The dragon's heart was aching for all the people of all the lands. The mighty dragon had to do something, so taking wing, the dragon flew over the rich farmland country roaring and spouting flames. When the dragon reached the place where the fighting was worst, he landed, and in a loud and booming voice, the dragon proclaimed, “I am the dragon of peace, and my heart is aching that you should be fighting amongst yourselves. This is a land rich in abundance, and the people of this land have shared the abundance with all. The land is given into your care for a short time, and fighting is useless, for, in the end, all land returns to the earth, and you return to where you began.” The people stopped fighting and looked at the dragon. “I give you a flower to remember what it means to live together, to support each other. This sunflower is the symbol of joy and peace. This flower shall bloom over all the land so that you never forget.” |
